1. Who we are

Fluezo is a language-learning application for iOS, Android and the web, available at fluezo.app, together with this website. These terms cover both.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Fluezo. You can create one with an email address or by signing in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account.

  • Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Don't share your account or let someone else use it as their own.
  • Tell us promptly at support@fluezo.com if you think your account has been compromised.

3. Child profiles

Children use Fluezo through a child profile created inside a parent's or guardian's account. A child profile has no login of its own. By creating one, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, that you consent to our processing of that child's information as described in the privacy policy, and that you accept these terms on the child's behalf. You remain responsible for the account, including any purchases made through it.

4. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Use Fluezo for anything unlawful, or to harass, abuse or harm anyone.
  • Try to break, overload, probe or circumvent the service, its rate limits, its paywall or its security.
  • Scrape, bulk-download, resell or redistribute our stories, audio, artwork or other content.
  • Reverse-engineer the app or use it to build a competing product, except where the law says you may.
  • Use automated systems to interact with the service, other than a standard browser or the published apps.
  • Upload anything you don't have the right to upload, or anything obscene, hateful or that puts a person at risk.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll tell you why first.

5. Subscriptions and payment

Fluezo offers an optional paid subscription. Where you buy it through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the purchase is made with that store and their terms govern billing, renewal and refunds.

  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until you cancel. The charge is taken within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Cancelling. Cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings, at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Refunds. Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under their policy. Where consumer law in your country gives you a statutory right to cancel or be refunded, that right stands regardless of anything here.
  • Prices. Prices may change. We'll tell you before a change affects a renewal, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
  • Your free hour. Everyone gets an hour of Fluezo free, with no card and no subscription attached. It doesn't convert into anything — when it runs out, the app simply asks whether you'd like to subscribe. Nothing is charged unless you choose to.

6. Your free hour and fair use

New accounts get an hour of Fluezo free. You don't need to enter payment details to use it, and it doesn't turn into a subscription on its own — once it's used up, the app asks whether you want to subscribe, and stops there if you don't.

We may change the length of the free allowance for new accounts, and we may apply reasonable technical limits to any account to keep the service working for everyone.

7. Your content

What you write, say and record in Fluezo stays yours. You give us a licence to host, process, transcribe, transmit and display it strictly so that we can run the service for you — respond to you in conversation, score your pronunciation, build your review deck and sync your progress across devices. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups that expire on our normal cycle.

How this works in practice, including which third parties process it, is set out in the privacy policy.

8. Our content

The app, the stories, the artwork, the audio, the name and the logo belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them for your own language learning. That's the whole licence — no other rights are granted.

9. AI-generated material

Fluezo uses AI models to hold conversations, correct your language and generate speech. Machine output can be wrong. Translations, grammar explanations, corrections and cultural notes may contain errors, and a character's reply is fiction, not advice. Don't rely on Fluezo for anything where being wrong matters — legal, medical, financial or safety-related decisions included. Check anything important against another source.

10. Changes to the service

We add, change and remove features. We may retire a language, a story or a game. If a change materially reduces what a paid subscription gives you, you may cancel and, where the law requires it, receive a proportionate refund.

11. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Fluezo and delete your account at any time from within the app. Deleting your account removes your profile and learning data as described in the privacy policy; cancel the subscription separately in your store account, because deleting an app account does not cancel store billing.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we're required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue the service, we'll give reasonable notice and refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.

12. Disclaimers

Fluezo is provided “as is”. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will make you fluent. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing here excludes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded.

13. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost data or lost opportunity. Our total liability arising out of or relating to Fluezo is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or [AMOUNT, e.g. €50].

We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of [JURISDICTION], and the courts of [JURISDICTION] have exclusive jurisdiction. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

Before going to court, please write to us at support@fluezo.com — most things are quicker to fix that way.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we'll give notice in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect, and continuing to use Fluezo after that means you accept them. If you don't, cancel and stop using the service.
